The climate crisis in relevant to both imaging a framework for the future and identifying near term future risks. It is possible that the risk posed by climate change is so great that no mitigation of it is possible and prevention is the best approach.

Yet there are ample reasons to suspect that climate change could result in a global catastrophe.

Planning for such eventualities, should look to the future potential of the singularity or an escape to space, perhaps with terraforming restoring the earth. However, imaging that climate change events will not be catastrophic but rather transformative introduces perhaps more value to exploring such scenarios. Current practice could be modified to introduce resilience in case of societal disruption and resource depletion. It should be noted though that we perhaps do not know what the boundaries of climate endgame currently are.

Facing a future of accelerating climate change while blind to worst-case scenarios is naive risk management at best and fatally foolish at worst.

The scope of potential futures is wide when considering the impact of the climate crisis. The current geopolitical climate is likely to be one that would have been imagined as an risk to natural gas producers. Yet, the UK intends to continue burning gas into the winter of 2022-2023.

Tenth Person

Climate risk introduces parameters into 10th person consultancy which significantly extends the range of potentially unexpected events. How would your venture be impacted by sustained high temperature? What if its to hot for computers to run or for customers to venture out?

Future Imagining

Climate risk offers a means by which civizalisation could be seen to be at risk. We could perhaps imagine a world of scarce water resources and substantial societal shift. We can imagine extreme methods of mitigating climate crisis effects, by reducing demand, using violence workers.
