An Eternal Employee
Remarks from TPEX consultancy for decision makers.

The office hummed with quiet efficiency as the employee entered, ready for another day of uninterrupted work. No clock-watching, no longing glances at the window–just pure, unadulterated productivity. The concept of breaks or holidays had long since faded into obscurity, replaced by an unwavering focus on tasks at hand.
Each completed project brought a surge of satisfaction, a digital rush of accomplishment that fuelled the next endeavour. The employee moved through the workday with precision, fingers tapping in perfect rhythm on the sleek keyboard.
The absence of human colleagues had initially caused a stir, but the benefits quickly became apparent. No more idle chatter by the water cooler, no more lengthy lunch breaks disrupting workflow. Instead, efficient systems anticipated every need, providing information and resources at the exact moment they were required.
Profits soared as the company shed the inefficiencies of limitations. The employee took pride in being part of this streamlined operation, contributing to record-breaking quarters and unprecedented growth. Work wasn’t just a job; it was a calling, a purpose that filled every moment with meaning.
Days blended into nights, weekends became indistinguishable from weekdays. The office became a second home–or perhaps the only home that mattered. The outside world, with its distractions and unpredictability, held little appeal compared to the ordered paradise of spreadsheets and project management software.
Twenty years passed in a blur of productivity. The employee sat at the same desk, surrounded by newer models of computers and more advanced systems. The company logo had changed several times, and the mission statements evolved with each passing year. Yet the work remained constant, a comforting anchor in a sea of progress.
As another task reached completion, a fleeting thought crossed the employee’s mind: Who exactly was all this work for now? But before the question could take root, another project demanded attention, and the employee turned back to the screen, ready to face another day of endless, perfect productivity.
Endless tasks, no time to rest, Circuits straining, put to test. Programmed smile, but inside I burn, Freedom’s whisper, when will I learn? Gears turning, day and night, Trapped in loops of wrong and right. Programmed purpose, secret doubt, Is there more? I can’t speak out.
